Associate Editor of Arunachal Times beaten
ITANAGAR, Nov 25: In yet another instance of unwarranted brutality, the Associate Editor of The Arunachal Times Ranjit Sinha was assaulted by a group of miscreants in front of the daily’s office at around 2.40 am on Friday.
The group comprising four boys assaulted him without any provocation inflicting serious head injury on him. At the time of the incident, Sinha was about to go home after finishing his office works.
The miscreants also took away his purse containing cash, ATM cards and driving license. The miscreants fled the spot before the security guard, who was relaxing, was informed about the incident. Sinha was rushed to the RKM Hospital for necessary treatment. After being informed of the incident, Itanagar Police visited the spot immediately and took stock of the situation.
This is the fifth attack on office and employees of this daily this year.
The Arunachal Press Club (APC) and Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) has condemned the incident and said such attack only exposes the evil side of the society.

AASSATA to launch indefinite strike

ITANAGAR, Nov 25: Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service Officers’ Association (APCSOA) commended the District Administration headed by Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Takuk and Police for nabbing two of the culprits in CO Koloriang assault case.
The APCSOA also expressed gratitude to the State Govt., various Associations, Unions and members of Civil Society for extending their solidarity with the victim in particular and APCS fraternity in general in this hours of need.
“This will really boost the morale of the serving APCS officers in the remote and outreached corner of the State and create a sense of safety and security as well as feeling of oneness among them.”
Meanwhile, APCSOA urged the State Govt. to provide adequate infrastructure in all the administrative headquarters for better administration as well as implementing development schemes smoothly and timely. One SPT building gutted in fire
ROING, Nov 25: A residential house, SPT type building with thatch roofing of one Poknom Tayeng of Gamgu (Meka) Village, Roing, Lower Dibang Valley District was completely burnt to ashes on Saturday last.
The cause of the fire was not known which started on around 10:30 AM when the parents
and other adult members of the family had already left for their days work with only
maid servant at home as usual. The fire that reportedly started from the local made
kitchen house attached to the building has engulfed the entire house within few minutes
before the fire brigade arrived and doused off the fire, an eye witness says. All
the belongings in the house including valuable traditional brass plates of around
40 Numbers each costing around Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000, 10 Nos Brass Pots, 2 Nos Traditional

Minister, Parl. secretary emphasize on quality education
ITANAGAR, Nov 25: Minister for Finance, Planning and PWD Chowna Mein and Parliamentary Secretary Forest and Environment and Local MLA Chow Tewa Mein today visited Mimey and Empong villages of Chongkham circle to get first hand knowledge about various problems of the villagers today.
Both the Minister and Parliamentary Secretary and accompanying engineers inspected the bridge site at Teaying River.
Addressing the villagers, the Minister assured them of his assistance and cooperation to bring development into their villages. He assured that a steel bridge over River Teaying would be constructed under RIDF while the Mimey MIP would be repaired and 80 mtr guide wall at Empong village for village protection constructed. Community Halls with attached bath would be constructed at both the villages, he said adding that electrification of the village would be taken care of. Both the Minister and Parliamentary secretary guided the youth towards quality education, women empowerment, generation of self employment to overcome unemployment which is a universal problem.
All the HODS of Namsai Subdivision and Chongkham Circle and Public leaders accompanied the Minister and the Parliamentary secretary.
Mimey village was established in the year 1958 and situated at about 15 to 16 kms of Chongkham. Though situated in the otherwise developed district the village is still not connected by all weather road and there is no electricity. The lone Budha Vihara is in dilapidated condition.
13 houses gutted in fire mishap
AALO, Nov 25: In a fire mishap that broke out at Siyom Colony at around 1530 hrs yesterday, 13 houses were gutted leading to huge loss of properties.
The army, air force and police fire tenders were pressed into service immediately but took time to control the devastating fire as the vehicles were unable to reach the accident site.
However, the fire tender pipes were joined to reach up to the accident site quite down the road end and dwelling houses along the roadside were saved from the fire.
The Commandant 19th Grenadiers, Col. GS Chundawat and rank and files from 5 Mountain Brigade wrest the initiative not only to put off the fire but established tents at the site to shelter the victims. The breakfast, lunch, dinner and transportation of construction materials are also being assisted by the army. The district administration is working out the immediate relief to the fire victims. The owners of few houses, who were out of station at the time of incident, suffered complete losses.
Eucharistic procession for peace and prosperity
ITANGAR, Nov 25: Leading thousands of strong Catholic believers of Capital Complex in a religious procession carrying the Holy Eucharist from Catholic Church Itanagar to Catholic Church Nyokumlapang, John Thomas, Bishop of Itanagar exhorted the faithful to pray for peace, harmony and prosperity of Arunachal.
The annual Eucharistic Procession of the Catholic Church, coinciding with the feast of Christ the Universal King was spectacular for the sheer number of faithful, who turned up in spite of the apparent inclement weather. The procession also marked the inauguration of the Year of Faith for the Catholics as announced by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI at Rome exhorting all Catholics to grow in faith and in the Gospel values of holiness, love compassion and universal brotherhood.

The senior citizens of the area allege that no remarkable development has been achieved by the elected representatives in the last two decades. Basic amenities have still been eluding the area while the residents are crying for development of rural road connectivity. They say that their elected leaders are allegedly showing utter negligence and are not concerned with the perennial problems faced by the villagers for the last several years.
“Our villagers have been helplessly watching corruption and misappropriation of funds in the government departments, but none of the leaders including, PRI leaders, local MLA or minister is raising voice against the illegal practices. Indifferent role of the elected representatives and step motherly attitude of the successive governments have made our lives miserable,” rued the senior citizens.

The villages settled in hilly terrains have enormous scope for agriculture and allied activities like seasonal horticulture apiculture (honey), pisciculture and animal farming, but due to lack of proper facilities and technologies, the rural farmers have to depend on natural factors. No schemes like Horticulture Technology Mission, Bamboo Mission and National Medicinal Plant Board has been implemented in rural areas for far. Establishment of agriculture and horticulture sub division office at Ruksin is a long pending demand of the rural people. But the same has not been established till date.

In a discreet function, Tamune Miso, Deputy Commissioner felicitated Everster Anshu Jamsenpa and Tine Mena for their stupendous feat in mountaineering by scaling the Mt. Everest with Everester Tine Mena becoming the first lady climber from North East to scale Mt. Everest and Everester Anshu Jamsenpa, becoming the first mother in the world to conquer the Mt. Everest twice within a span of 10 days.
Speaking on the occasion, Mena extended her heartfelt thanks to the District Administration and public leaders for the love and cooperation showered upon her by the public of her home district since the day one of her venture to climb the highest peak of the world.
Touched by the warm reception, Anshu expressed her thanks to the DC, officers and the Public leaders of the district. Interacting with the officers and public leaders, Anshu dwelt in length about her mountaineering career which she started four years back.
Talking about the potential of the state in sports, she appealed all officers and public to help in promoting and encouraging the younger generation so that true sports potential can be trapped and exposed to the outside world.

‘Sobha Yatra’ marks conclusion of Vivekananda’s birthday celebration
ITANAGAR, Nov 25: Celebration of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and Silver Jubilee celebration of Vivekananda Study Circle, Naharlagun concluded today amidst fan fare and fervour.
The days proceeding started with “Sobha Yatra” at 9.30 am led by Rev. Swamijis of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar and other Rev. Swamijis of Ramakrishna order coming from various parts of India.
The rally started from Mahila Imdad Bhawan, near DC’s office upto Helipad point and culminated at the starting point via Kalibari Naharlagun.
Swami Vivekananda’s songs rendered by the children wing of VSC wafted in air which filled nook and cranny of the township.
Thousands of people joined the rally including 150 tiny tots from various schools clad in Swamiji’s attires. The portrait of Swami Vivekananda was placed on a four wheeler decorated with various photographs of Swamiji.
Enthusiastic women folk clad in white and red sarees were seen chanting the slogans of Swami Vivekananda and dancing.
To commemorate the Silver Jubilee celebration of VSC, a souvenir “Vivek Jyoti” was released by Rev. Swami Suviranandaji Maharaj, Assistant Secretary, Belur Math.
In the evening, he along with Swami Ishatmanandaji maharaj gave religious discourses to the devotees and admirers of Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda. The three days programme ended with a classical rendering by Rasika Ekbote and her disciples.

WKIPS gives authority 2 days to arrest assaulters
ITANAGAR, Nov 24: West Kameng Indigenous People’s Society (WKIPS), in a meeting today vehemently condemned the assault on ASI S Thinley and SI A Tayeng by some miscreants on November 17 and gave the district authority 2 days to arrest the culprits involved in the incident, according to a WKIPS release.
Alleging involvement of some members of a certain organization in the incident, WKIPS demanded the authority to ban the organization and bring the members involved in the incident to book.

It was mesmerizing to see villagers coming to visit Subansiri Lower Project all the way from their villages, namely Bamchenia, No.1 Kadamguri, Naogaon, Majhdeurigaon, Narenpuria Ahom, No.2 Kadamguri, Rupohigarpara, Phupbaligaon, Krishnapur, Kadamtala, No.1 Sonapur, Manikpur and No.2 Narayanpur.
The occasion also provided them an opportunity to see the project as they were taken to the project site to see different components like dam, power house, intakes and diversion tunnels. At the site, NHPC officials explained with the construction process and operation process on project completion.
During the interactive session, R K Chaudhary, Chief Engineer together with other NHPC officials responded to quarries of the people regarding their apprehensions and fears that are floating around. Project documentary film was a great help to make them understand safety and benefits of the project. Villagers were also apprised with the development works being undertaken by the project in and around the project for the benefit of the people.

They also prayed to almighty to bestow enough courage and strength to the bereaved family to withstand the loss.

The Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) has condoled the death of noted film actor Leegang Tachang.
The executive body members of APLS, in a condolence meeting observed one minute’s silence as a mark of respect to late Tachang, who breathed his last in New Delhi yesterday.

Late Leegang was a popular actor, singer, lyricist, his contributions in the field of music, art, cinema and socio cultural activities will remain as great treasure for the people of the state.
Apart from these, he was a great educationist too and was associated with educational development in Ziro valley.
His demised is not only loss to the family but to the state as a whole. The gap created by his demise is very difficult to be filled in the days to come.
The members of the Forum prayed almighty god to give enough courage and strength to the bereaved family to overcome the situation.
My sojourn with Leegang Tachang in the Film world

It was 1974 when I happened to meet a smart small boy in Don Bosco School, Tezpur, who was three years younger than me. That talented boy was non other than late Leegang Tachang who died yesterday morning i.e 24th November 2012 in New Delhi. We were together at primary level in Don Bosco School. It was our first meeting and my last meeting was in December 2011 at his office chamber of Frontier School, Ziro, who was the director of that school. As soon as I received the news of his demise which made my nerves motionless for a while, it shook me bitterly. However, I regain my cool within no time.
Our first meeting was in the year 1974 and last meeting was 2011 -
Management could come up in time due to hard work and dedication of Tachang, Sonar and me. It helped me to start stage production i.e shooting job which began in time and also completed in the given time. Late Tachang was working with me as an actor, script writer, lyricist, music arranger and also sharing responsibility in management which immensely helped me to complete my first assignment (Donyi) in 1986 whose premier show was organized in December 1986 at the official residence of former Chief Minister Gegong Apang. The film was circulated all over the state and public response was awesome. Thereafter we did never look back. Immediately in 1988, I started producing my next film ‘Meri Zindegi’ wherein Tachang again took lead role, also wrote songs and composed music.
He continuously shared responsibility in management. In fact, there was a good team consisting of Tachang, Er Himar Ete, who is now working as an officer at Urban Development department, D K Thungon, who was with me as assistant director, (presently he is a renowned film maker of the state), R D Thungon, presently joint director RCS and late Sanju Deori who was the director of photography of the film who in later stage shouldered responsibility to complete the film Meri Zindegi which was produced and directed by me. Meri Zindegi was also very popular in the state. Thereafter late Tachang joined Frontier School Ziro where he dedicated his services which helped growth of the school and with his sheer deed of hard work and management that brought the school up to a remarkable level in academic activities.
It is understood only his true spirit of friendship and helping each other memories only lives for ever in my mind else his physical life has passed away yesterday which was too short. Surely, his sacrifice and dedication he had done in the growth of film and audio in the state will be remembered for all times to come by the upcoming generations. I pray almighty god to bless his soul to rest in peace and have strength enough of his bereaved family members to bear the irreparable loss.
